This policy describes what the Qur'an app ("the app") does with your data. It is written from the app's code, not from a template: every item below corresponds to something the app actually does. When the app changes, this page changes with it.

The app is published by I-SHIM, Inc., 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA ("we"). Contact: info@ishim.app.

2. What the app stores on your device

Language and theme, reading marks, daily counts, memorisation marks, Elif-Bâ lesson results and review dates, your daily goal, and downloaded audio and translation packs. Deleting the app removes all of it.

3. Account (optional)

Signing in uses Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) with one of: Google, Apple, or e-mail and password. We receive your account identifier and e-mail address (and, with Apple, the name you choose to share). We use them only to identify your account.

4. Progress sync (only when signed in)

While you are signed in, the app keeps one document under your account in our Firestore database (Google LLC, EU region): reading marks, high-water marks, daily counts, memorisation marks, your daily goal, the time of the last change, and the three dates of the subscription reminder (when the app was installed, when you first chose to keep it free, when it last asked) so a new phone does not ask again from scratch. The device remains the source of truth; the cloud copy exists so a new phone can pick up where you left off. Signing out keeps your progress on the device and does not delete the cloud copy; deleting your account deletes it first, then the account (Profile → Delete account, two confirmations).

5. Downloads

Recitations, translation packs and lesson sounds are downloaded from our storage (Firebase Storage, Google LLC). Like any download, the storage service sees your IP address and the file requested. Nothing about your identity is attached.

6. Word-by-word meanings (Understand)

When you open the word-by-word view and no offline pack is present, the app requests the verse's words from quran.com (Quran.Foundation). That service sees your IP address, the verse and the language requested. No account data is sent.

7. Fonts

All fonts — the Arabic Qur'an font (Amiri Quran) and the interface fonts (Playfair Display, Inter) — are bundled inside the app. No font is fetched from the internet.

8. Microphone

The Elif-Bâ lessons let you record yourself and compare with the model reading. The recording is a single file on your device, replaced by the next recording, and is never uploaded. The app asks for microphone permission only when you tap Record.

9. Identifiers created by Firebase

The Firebase SDK creates an anonymous installation identifier on the device (Google LLC). We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Cloud Messaging.

10. What we do not do

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no sale or sharing of personal data, no third-party SDKs beyond those named above.

11. Your rights

You can delete your account and its cloud document inside the app at any time. For any other request about your data, write to info@ishim.app. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK or Türkiye, you have the rights given by your local data-protection law (access, correction, deletion, objection); we honour them for everyone.

12. Children

The app is a reading and learning tool with no social features, no ads and no tracking. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; an account is optional and never required to learn.

13. Changes

We will change this page when the app's behaviour changes and note the date above.
